Reviews of Special Effects Electric Blue CyndeeCyanide I absolutely adored this colour. It was exactly what I was looking for. It was a very bright, true blue for a week or so after leaving it on platinum blonde hair for four hours. The only drawback was, as a blue, it faded far too quickly for my liking. And I was /hardly/ smitten with the fact that it turned purple. Sure, it's better than fading to some really ugly grey or off-green, but I really wish it would have stayed actually /blue/ longer than it did. So much love for the initial colour, but a point off for how quickly it turned purple. Report Comment Babyrok I put this on blue on bleached hair that was still that nasty orange color because I had had a previous red that just wouldn't bleach out. This blue was a little bit darker than I had intended, but it a was neon blue in the sun. So indoors it looked a little more conservative until the sun hit it. I didn't notice any purple tints at all and I left it in the 15 minutes I was supposed to and for 4 weeks it didn't fade, which surprised me a lot. I washed with cold water and used Paul Mitchell's anti-fade shampoo and conditioner, which is why I think it never really faded. This color will stick to your hair extremely well as long as you take care of it. Report Comment vickyandy69 LOVE LOVE LOVE this colour, done half my hair with this (other half atomic pink) i applied this on bleached hair and it has come out vibrant and bright just what i was looking for. i done it 2 weeks ago and havent faded at all, near my roots its gone a purply blue that goes proper blue further down it goes. I was my hair in luke warm to cold water as heard this helps. would recommend anyone to use this colour if they want a blue. I only used to just half a bottle on my middle of the back hair (from my parting i done half) so got some left over when it needs topping up 🙂 will defently use this colour again Report Comment ElectroKitty I mixed it with Blue Mayhem and it combined to give me the vividest mane of cyber blue hair I could have hoped for. Absolutely gorgeous colour. I was worried it was going to be purple at first but it washed out very, very blue and very, very intense. Stains like hell and you don't need so much. Report Comment Monday_Mae A very pretty true blue. Brighter than Blue Mayhem. I haven't had trouble with it running, then again I don't keep it in long and I rinse in ice-cold water. Report Comment peskandritsa It is the most amazing shade of blue I have ever tried. It really is electric, alas it fades so fast. I must admit though, for some reason I tend to use special effects hair dyes in the springtime. I don't know, they just inspire me this way! Which means that in terms of fading I am not the right person to comment; too much sun you see. Maybe in order to be fair to this colour I should use it during winter and see then how fast it fades. Another glossy blue from Special Effects! Electric Blue is somewhere between Blue Mayhem and Blue Velvet. It has the lustrous inky blue of Blue Velvet but the bright shining blue highlights of Blue Mayhem. Electric Blue has violet tones, which makes it more forgiving on warmer blondes. Its dense pigmentation makes it great at covering uneven bases with the side effect of dye rub-off. This colour can transfer to your clothing/bedding/towels etc. for the first 2 or 3 weeks so take precautions such as using old bedding or towels until the colour settles down. You’ll enjoy rich shiny colour if you apply this to bleached hair, and it may even give a blue-black tint on colour treated or natural hair.

The Trope Namer, Homestar Runner, spoofs this when a fan named James asks what Strong Bad would look like as an anime character. Strong Bad decides that he’d be shiny and have huge green eyes, cooler boots, and blue hair (“You gotta have blue hair.”), for some reason. Humourously, on one main page, scrolling over “Store” gives 1-Up (Homestar Runner’s anime counterpart) blue hair. Acedemy Sugoi Seiun has characters with bright pink, blue, yellow/orange/red (at the same time), and purple hair. Eddsworld had Laurel, a one-time character in the “Movie Makers” episode.

The celebrated “Glowing Green Monkeys”, who were created by gene-splicing lab monkeys with bioluminescent sea creatures. Their hair only glows under fluorescent light, however, and look more of a dull greenish-brown under normal conditions. Bioluminescent pigs, on the other hand, are bright yellow. A potential result of overexposure to cobalt or indigo dyes during industrial processes. Purple squirrels have been showing up around the world. Whether or not it’s some sort of prank is unknown. Maybe it’s a commentary on the job market. Can be invoked using hair dye. Can be *unintentionally* invoked using hair dye, particularly if your hair is fair and/or highly absorbent. For instance, it’s not unknown for temporary black hair dye, when being washed out, to turn blonde hair green for several days. In 2001, Cricketer Colin “Funky” Miller celebrated Australia’s Centenary of Federation by dying his hair in what he referred to as “Federation Blue”.
